SHENMUE: Crunchyroll and Adult Swim launch production of the anime!

The franchise comes alive! SHENMUE, the video game license from SEGA will soon appear on your screens in a new light. The Crunchyroll platform partners with Adult Swim to produce an original 13-episode anime. Directed by Chikara Sakurai (ONE PUNCH MAN), SHENMUE will be produced by Japanese studio Telecom Animation Film. Crunchyroll reassures fans: Yu Suzuki, creator of the license, will also be part of the project as executive producer. We can’t wait to see a first trailer!

Official summary

Shenmue will be a 13-episode animated series featuring Ryo Hazuki’s journey. After witnessing his father’s murder in the family dojo, Ryo dedicates his life to finding the person responsible; a mission that takes him from the streets of Yokosuka, Japan, to the sprawling metropolis of Hong Kong, and beyond. As he continues his quest for revenge by seeking to become an ultimate master of martial arts, he will learn that much greater mystical forces are at play …
